In 1985 John Wiggins and Kerry Hill moved to Cookeville to attend Tennessee Technological University. Upon graduation, John went to work for a family owned business. In 1993 John and Kerry were married and acquired some rental property and for the first time began using professional carpet cleaning services on a regular basis. A variety of companies were used because we were either dissatisfied with the service provided, quality of work, or the cost of the service.

In 1998 the family business John was employed with decided to suspend their operations and Cookeville Carpet Cleaning was founded. Since John and Kerry had no previous experience in the cleaning industry each attended and were certified in IICRC classes for Carpet Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, Odor Control, Spot Removal, Color Repair, and Carpet Repair and Reinstallation. After much research in cleaning methods, a powerful truck mounted steam-cleaning machine was purchased and we felt confident we could begin cleaning carpet.

Because of our previous experience with carpet cleaners, we were determined to provide exceptional customer service, have the best in cleaning equipment and cleaning agents, stay abreast of new technology by continuing our education and provide our clients with exceptional value for the quality of our services.

By always keeping the 5 core values in mind, and utilizing experience gained through everyday cleaning, Cookeville Carpet Cleaning became a respected company whose clients felt comfortable referring to their friends and neighbors. In 2004 we changed our name to Cumberland Carpet Cleaning to more closely reflect the area of clients we served.

Today Cumberland Carpet Cleaning is a full service residential and commercial cleaning service providing cleaning with multiple truck-mounted steam-cleaning systems as well as low moisture cleaning methods for commercial style carpeting. We have been blessed with other family members who have joined our company and with technicians who share our same commitment to high quality services at an affordable rate.
